New Delhi /
The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked beleaguered liquor baron Vijay Mallya to disclose in full the assets he holds overseas including the details of the $40 million he got in February from British liquor major Diageo – which has acquired controlling stakes in United Liquor Spirits.
Saying it was not happy the way he had made disclosure, the bench of Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Rohinton Nariman said Mallya will furnish particulars of his foreign assets as he had given in respect of his assets in India.
“We are not happy the way disclosure was made”, Justice Kurian observed.
Saying that “We are prima facie of the view that Vijay Mallya has not made proper disclosure in terms of April 7, 2016”order, the bench said, “Vijay Mallya is directed to make a complete disclosure of all his properties … and in particular in respect of US $ 40 million upto date” which Diageo had paid in February this year.
“Vijay Mallya will furnish the particulars of the overseas assets as it has been done (in respect of his assets) in India with full details”, the order said as Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told the bench that Mallya did not give the details of his bank account, their nature, neither the particulars of his immovable properties including cars.
