sushmaExternal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today informed both the Houses of Parliament that the Saudi Arabia government has given prompt and positive response to the crisis faced by jobless Indian workers.

Mrs Swaraj said that the Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud himself has taken note of the problems of the Indian workers who have been rendered jobless due to the closure of factories there.

She said Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh met Social and Labour Minister of the Saudi government and discussed ways to resolve the hardships faced by Indian workers.

The Minister said the Saudi government has clarified that it will issue Exit Visas to all the workers and also ensure that they will be sent back to India at the expenses of the Saudi Government.

She said the government there has also allowed Saudi companies to offer jobs to Indian workers if they want. They have also agreed that the workers have to file their claims in labour office so if they returned to India, they will remain eligible to get their all dues.

Saudi Authorities have also made arrangements to provide free medical, food and other basic facilities in the camps where Indian workers are staying.

Mrs. Swaraj said the quick response by the Saudi government is the result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit there to strengthen bilateral relations.
