Russia and Ukraine exchanged record numbers of drone strikes overnight. Moscow launched a total of 145 drones last night, the most ever in a single night-time attack of the war.
Ukraine fired an unprecedented 34 drones towards the Moscow region today. It is the biggest drone strike on the Russian capital since the start of the war in 2022, forcing flights to be diverted from three of the city’s major airports and injuring at least one person. However, no major damage was reported.
Russia’s federal air transport agency said the airports of Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky had diverted flights. Russia’s aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia said the airports have since resumed their operations, the drone attack comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a treaty on the country’s strategic partnership with North Korea which includes a mutual defence provision.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a social media platform said, that during the week, Russia has used more than 800 guided aerial bombs, around 600 strike drones, and nearly 20 missiles of various types.
