Haryana police has arrested two persons for involvement in a 23 year old woman gangrape and murder case at Rohtak. Haryana Additional Director General (Law and Order) Mohammad Akil said that a Special Investigation team has been formed to investigate the case.
Inspector General of Police Navdeep Virk has said that the case is being investigated and two persons named Sumit and Vikas have been arrested in this case.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar called the crime unfortunate and said that guilty would not be spared.
The government representatives, opposition leaders and member of National Woman Commission Rekha Sharma visited the family of victim in Kalupur village of the Sonipat district.
The woman was reportedly gang-raped and brutally murdered before the body was dumped in Haryana’s Rohtak this week. She lay in the vacant plot for four days before someone spotted her.
According to police woman was allegedly kidnapped from Sonipat on 9 May and taken to Rohtak in a car.
NCW takes Suo moto case

National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of Rohtak gangrape and murder incident. NCW Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam told media that a team of the Commission is on visit to Sonipat to ascertain facts about the incident. She said the Commission will take further action after getting the report.
NCW member Rekha Sharma said that there was “need to be more swift and sensitive enough to handle these cases.” She also said that the NCW will “monitor” the progress in the case till the end.
Meanwhile, the Haryana police have registered a case under under IPC 365, 302,376 A,D, 34 and 328 against the two accused arrested in connection with the gangrape and murder.
Haryana’s Additional DGP Akil Ahmad said, “An SIT (special investigation team) has been formed by police… Maximum possible penalty will be awarded to the accused. We will appeal for fast-tracking this case.”
The victim was kidnapped from Sonipat on May 9. She was “brutally raped, tortured and murdered, her mutilated body was found in Rohtak” two days later, Akil Ahmad said.
In victim Post Mortem report it was found that she was brutally raped and tortured.
Her body was mutilated and attempts were made to disfigure her completely to prevent identification of the victim.
Meanwhile, Haryana government and Red Cross Society has announced financial assistance to the bereaved family.
Rohtak gangrape victim’s kin will get financial assistance of Rs 10.5 lakh. State welfare department will provide Rs 8.5 lakh while Red Cross Society announced support of Rs 2 lakh.
“Post-mortem report states that the cause of death is head injury. Blunt force injuries and multiple wounds (were) found on skull and scalp. Post -mortem further states that Oesophagus was missing and gnawing effects were seen over chest of the victim in Rohtak gangrape and murder case,” read ANI’s tweets.
Rs 10.5 lakh financial aid for kin of Rohtak gang rape victim
Haryana government has announced financial assistance of Rs 10.50 lakh for the kin of the gang rape victim of village Kalupur in district Sonepat, who was murdered after rape at Rohtak. Stating this today, Deputy Commissioner of Sonepat, Mr. K. Makrand Pandurang, said that Haryana Government and District Administration stand by the bereaved family in this moment of grief. He said that all efforts will be will made to ensure justice to the victim’s family.
Mr Pandurang said that Haryana Police has arrested two persons in this case and other people ,according to the victim’s family members, may be involved in the incident would soon be arrested. He said that full security cover would be provided to the victim’s family.
