Union Minister of Road Transport, Shipping & Highways, Nitin Gadkari has announced road and bridges development projects worth 10,000-crore rupees for Nagaland. He said, Centre accords high priority to infrastructure development in the North-East region.

Mr Gadkari said, Centre has decided to construct roads of more than 10,000 km in length in the region which would incur an approximate cost of 1 lakh crore rupees in a five-year span.

Mr Gadkari was talking to media persons in Kohima after laying the foundation stone for four-laning of Dimapur-Kohima National Highway 29 near Chathe River Bridge, Patkai College junction Chumukedima in Dimapur district and gracing the Birth Centenary Celebration of Rani Gaidinliu at Peren district.
