Punjab government has dispatched a high level rescue team to oversee the evacuation of the pilgrims stranded at Sri Hemkunt Sahib due to heavy rain and reported damage to bridges, roads and others.
State Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal, and Registrar, Co-operative Societies Arunjit Singh Miglani has been asked to head a team to oversee the evacuation of the stranded pilgrims after liaisioning with the Uttrakhand Government. Mr. Miglani would report the progress of evacuation to Punjab Civil Control Room on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has described the scourge of floods in Uttarakhand as a National tragedy. He has assured full and immediate help to all those affected by nature’s fury regardless of their respective states or their destination of pilgrimage.
