IN highly shamful act, a tableau of murder accused Shambhulal Regar was taken out by Hindu outfits on March 25 during a Ram Navami procession here.
Shambhu Lal Raigar had allegedly hacked and burnt to death a 48-year-old Muslim labourer from West Bengal, Mohammed Afrazaul, at Rajsamand in December last year,
In the photos circulated on social media, a man is seen dressed in clothes similar to those that Regar wore at the time he hacked Bengali migrant labourer Mohammed Afrazul in December last year.
The tableau depicted a Raigar lookalike man with a pickaxe in his hand.
Dressed in clothes similar to what Raigar was wearing when he appeared on a video footage while killing Afrazul, a man bearing a striking resemblance with him sat on a throne-like chair in the tableau. For a brief duration, the tableau also showed a man lying in front of the Raigar look alike and the latter making a gesture of hitting him.
A huge banner hung at the tableau called upon Hindus to “protect [their] sisters and daughters and liberate the country from Love Jihad”. It stated: “Hindu bhaiyon jago, apni bahan beti bachao. Love Jihad se desh ko azad karana chahiye.”
The poster also has a picture of a shovel identical to the murder weapon that was used by Regar to allegedly murder Afrazul, while the act was also filmed by him. Later, in a series of videos Regar had gone on a long, anti-Islam diatribe.
Regar was addressed as ‘Shambhu Nath, love jihad mitane wala’ (Shambhu Nath, destroyer of lover jihad) in the poster. (Express photo)
“The Ram Navami celebrations has being going on since the past 35 years and are organised under the banner of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. This year, around 2.5 lakh people participated in the celebrations and we generally ask the youth to take out tableaus on current affairs,” said Mahendra Singh, Jodhpur division joint secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Mahaveer Singh, an office-bearer of Vishva Hindu Parishad, termed “love-jihad” a serious issue and justified the inclusion of the controversial tableax in the procession. Singh said that if the government did not take any action, the country will be on the brink of a civil-war like situation. “The government needs to be serious and act before this issue pushes the country to the brink of a civil war,” the VHP official was quoted as saying.
He also claimed that Regar is an under-trial and could not be declared a criminal. Hari Singh, another member part of organising committee and an office bearer of Shiv Sena, expressed pride in Regar’s act. “He brought to the attention of all Hindus to the issue of Love Jihad, which is a more serious matter of the time than even cancer. He did it for the Hindu community and it wasn’t wrong”, he said.
