Rajya Sabha Chairman, M. Venkaiah Naidu has lauded the disruption free proceedings for the whole day in the Upper House on Wednesday. He urged the members to let that spirit prevail for the remaining part of this Budget session and for future as well.
Making observations in this regard in the House on Thursday, Mr. Naidu highlighted the advantages of smooth functioning of the House saying that it was a delight to watch quality debates on the ‘Motion of Thanks to President’ address. He said, the debate was marked by effective assertion of achievements by the ruling party Members on one hand and contestation by the opposition Members on the other.

The Rajya Sabha witnessed disruption free proceedings during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address after 41 sittings spread across four sessions and after about a year. The last such normal disruption free sitting was held on 19th March last year during the Budget Session. The last disruption free full session of Rajya Sabha was held in June, 2009 when Ministers of UPA government were introduced in the Upper House.
