Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned following Opposition uproar over Rafale fighter jet deal, Cauvery and other issues.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House minutes after it met for the day amid pandemonium. Members from AIADMK, DMK and TDP trooped into the well in support of their demands, plunging the House into chaos.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel appealed to the agitating members to cooperate with the government to run the House smoothly as only a week is left for the conclusion of the Winter Session. He assured that the government is ready to discuss any issue, including Cauvery.
Earlier, the Chairman repeatedly warned the members saying his patience is now wearing thin due to repeated disruptions.
The Lok Sabha also continued to witness noisy scenes over several issues, including Rafale aircraft deal. As soon as the House met for the day, members from Congress surged into the well demanding a JPC probe into the deal.
CPI(M) members were on their feet demanding passage of Women’s Reservation Bill. AIADMK members have been objecting to the proposal for the construction of a dam on River Cauvery. Left parties demanded immediate passage of the long-pending Women’s Reservation Bill.
Members belonging to several opposition parties today staged protests in support of their demands in the Parliament premises. Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress party members have been demanding Special Status for Andhra Pradesh and financial support to the Capital Amaravati.
Two Congress members from Assam raised slogans demanding higher wages for Tea garden workers.
