Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will lead an all party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir on September 4. Mr Singh yesterday met BJP President Amit Shah, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh and discussed with them the modalities for the visit of all party delegation.
Sources said that the meeting discussed possible individuals and groups with whom the delegation may interact. The government has sounded out different political parties to convey the names of their representatives who will be part of the delegation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday spoke about the Kashmir situation in his Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio and a day after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met him.
In his Mann Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister said that any life lost in Kashmir, whether of any youth or any security personnel, is the country’s loss. Mr Narendra Modi said Ekta (unity) and Mamata (affection) was the crux of all interactions he had recently on Kashmir situation. The Kashmir Valley has been in the grip of unrest since the killing of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant on July 8.
Yesterday Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that Prime Minister Narender Modi is the only hope to the solution of Kashmir problem as Mr. Modi has the decisive mandate of the country with him.
Speaking during a function in Jammu last evening, Ms Mufti said that if this problem is not resolved under Mr Modi’s leadership, it will never be resolved. She further said, the approach adopted by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the only way to resolve the problem.
Ms Mufti said, India as well as Pakistan would have to follow the Vajpayee’s doctrine to bring Jammu and Kashmir out of the prevailing situation of violence as this is the only option
