rajnathHome Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with senior officials in New Delhi and reviewed the situation in the valley.

Home Minister also spoke to Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the tense situation in Kashmir. Sources said, Mr. Singh also had a telephonic conversation with former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the issue.

Meanwhile, normal life in the Kashmir Valley remained paralysed for the third day on Monday due to the curfew-like restrictions and separatists-sponsored strike.

The death toll due to clashes between protesters and security forces has reached 23, including one policman. Over 250 people were injured across Kashmir valley, with more than three dozen sustaining bullet injuries.

Curfew-like restrictions continued to be in place in many parts of the Valley including parts of Srinagar city. Mobile internet and Train services remained suspended. Shops and business establishments are closed in Srinagar.

Public transport is also off the roads. Additional twelve companies of para military force personnel (CRPF) were rushed by the Centre as reinforcement.

The annual Amarnath Yatra also remained suspended from Jammu today for the third day in the row. Police sources said, no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatra base camp Monday morning.

Authorities said, the yatra will be allowed only after they are assured of the security of pilgrims in the Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile the death toll of civilians has reached 22. A policeman died on Sunday in Sangam area of Anantnag district.

Over 250 persons sustaining bullet and pellet injuries are undergoing treatment at hospitals across Kashmir. Around three dozen youths had sustained bullet injuries during clashes on Saturday.

96 security personnel also sustained injuries. The authorities have imposed curfew like restrictions in several sensitive areas of the Valley.

There was no report of any fresh casualty from any part of the Valley. However, clashes were reported from south Kashmir, parts of Srinagar and other areas.

The mobile internet and train services continued to remain suspended on 3rd consecutive day.

Today, no fresh Amarnath pilgrim batch from Jammu Base Camp was allowed to proceed towards Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir due to the prevailing situation.

All stranded Yatris HAVE left safely towards Jammu. With over 2700 yatris having darshan on Monday, over 1.28 lakh Yatris had darshan of ice lingam till now.
