All the divisions have been asked to observe safety-week from June 9 to create awareness among the masses. On this Safety week, the ILCAD focuses on educational measures and promotion of safe behaviour at and around level crossings. The day is observed at different locations in every participating country of U.I.C. and is constructed around the common message”Act Safely at Level Crossings” .

On the safety day, emphasis was laid on campaigns to create awareness among public through educational Institutions, Distribution of Posters, Pamphlets, Hand bills etc. SMS on mobile to road users staying near rural areas. Publicity campaigns through various media including newspapers, Nukkad Nataks, Television, Radio and slides in Cinema Halls with an appeal to road users to observe all precautions. In rural areas the message is to be sent through loudspeakers mounted on Rickshwas.

Safety Seminars would be organized during the safety week at various places in the divisions including Road Transport offices & educational institutions. Special joint checks involving RPF, GRP & Civil Authorities would be carried out at the level crossings against the errant road users who would be apprehended under sections of Motor Vehicle Act. Officials would also check whether Train Drivers are adhering to the whistling habits as instructed while approaching the level crossings.
