The much awaited elevation of Mr Rahul Gandhi as Congress president is likely to happen before October 30, sources said on Monday.The sources said Congress’ Central Election Authority chairman Mullapali Ramachandran has given to party president Sonia Gandhi a tentative schedule for the election of party president before October 30.
The process of election to Congress units in various states is complete and the stage is finally set for the likely elevation of Mr Rahul Gandhi as party president, replacing his mother Sonia Gandhi.
In recent weeks, Congress units in various states have passed resolutions seeking elevation of Mr Rahul Gandhi as Congress president.
In fact, Ms Sonia Gandhi had on Friday indicated that the elevation of Mr Rahul Gandhi as the party president could be done “soon”.
