Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today met delegation of farmers in New Delhi. Mr Gandhi held discussions with the farmers on the Land Acquisition Bill brought by NDA government and crop damage due to unseasonal rains. He assured them that he would take up every issue raised by them. Half a dozen groups of farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh gathered at Rahul Gandhi’s residence.

Speaking on the occassion, Congress MP V Hanumant Rao said the Land Bill by UPA was brought by consent of all political parties, including BJP. He questioned why BJP felt the need to bring in a new Land Bill.

The meeting takes places a day ahead of the massive Congress rally to be held at the city’s Ramlila Ground tomorrow. The Congress Vice President will address the rally of farmers along with party President Sonia Gandhi. Congress leaders have termed the bill as anti-farmer and anti poor.
