Congress today said party vice president Rahul Gandhi has not retracted from his stand on the RSS. Party senior leader Kapil Sibal said in New Delhi that Mr Gandhi never accused the RSS of committing crime.
Mr Sibal said, Mr Gandhi only had said that Mahatma Gandhi was killed by a person who was associated with the RSS. Mr Sibal said the party stands by whatever Mr Gandhi had said.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told the Supreme Court that he had never blamed RSS as an institution that killed Mahatma Gandhi but had stated that a person associated with it was responsible for his assassination.
Reacting to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s submission before the Supreme Court that he never blamed RSS for killing Mahatma Gandhi, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu hoped that wisdom will prevail upon the Congress leader not to make offensive remarks against a nationalist organisation.
The minister jokingly also said, it was only a film earlier and it was not real
