A Pune court today passed an order to transfer the Elgar Parishad case to Special NIA Court in Mumbai. Additional Sessions Judge S.R. Navander ordered that records and proceedings of the case be sent to the Special NIA Court in Mumbai along with all the papers related to the investigation of the case. Maharashtra Government yesterday clarified that it had no objection over transferring the case to NIA.
Last month, the Centre transferred the probe into the case from Pune Police to the NIA after which the NIA had submitted the application before the court. The NIA booked 11 people in the Elgar Parishad case, of which nine activists are currently in jail.
In the meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar criticized the State Government’s decision of giving no objection for transferring the case to the NIA. He was speaking to media persons in Kolhapur today.
