Public Distribution System would be digitalized and consumers would be informed about arrival of foodgrains at the depots and time of their distribution through SMS on their mobile phones in Haryana. This would soon be started as a pilot project in Panchkula.
Stating this Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj said at Chandigarh that under the pilot project 20 depot holders have been identified and they would get a facility of ‘Point of Sale Device’. He said that soon all information like movement of foodgrains from godown to depot etc would also be made available on whatsapp. He said that for smooth functioning of PDS system, phone number, account number and Aadhaar Number of all consumers are also being linked with Ration Card.
