The administration of Mizoram, Mamit district on the Mizoram-Bangladesh border today issued an order prohibiting import of chicken, bird, duck and eggs from Bangladesh and supply from Tripura. The order also prohibits transportation of pig and cow from other districts of Mizoram.
In some Mizoram districts, there are reports of outbreak of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) and Foot and Mouth Disease among cattle. Several pigs have died due to PRRS in Champhai district on the Mizoram-Myanmar border. Though the cause of deaths of pigs was yet to be confirmed by laboratories.
