prez MukherjeePresident Pranab Mukherjee today called upon economists to focus on formulating strategies for increasing job opportunities and skill development in the country.

Inaugurating the 98th annual conference of Indian Economic Association in Hyderabad today, Mr Pranab Mukherjee said inclusive growth could not achieved without creating equitable opppttunities for all in the society.

Stating that balancing growth rate with social justice is the need of the hour, he asked policy makers to ensure that people in the last strata of society are provided with equal opportunities.

The President said the Make In India, Start -up India and Digital India programmes of the union government are helping not only to pace up industrial growth in the country with indigenous technology but also to enhance job opportunities.

On the occasion, the President asked educational institutions to provide quality education to students. Expressing happiness that Indian Institute of technology, Delhi and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore found place in the top 200 educational institutions in the world, Mr Pranab Mukherjee asked educationists to focus on quality eudcation.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, Telangana deputy chief Minister Mohammed Ali were also present. World Bank Chief economist Mr Kaushik basu presided over the inaugural ceremony.
