President and Vice-president have greeted people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. In a tweet, President Ram Nath Kovind said, Lord Buddha’s message of non-violence, love and compassion provides people with the strength to work for the welfare of others. He expressed hope Lord Buddha’s teachings will guide people towards universal fraternity.
In his message, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu said, the eternal message of peace, truth and compassion bestowed by Lord Buddha will forever inspire humanity to follow the path of righteousness and respect for all in their day to day conduct and actions. He called on people to commit themselves to follow the principles of universal love, compassion and tolerance shown by Lord Buddha.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the teachings of Lord Buddha are extremely relevant in the 21st century. He said, Lord Buddha’s life was devoted to alleviating suffering and removing injustice from society and his compassion has endeared him to millions.
