US President Barack Obama will travel to Orlando on Thursday to pay his respects to the victims of the mass shooting at a gay night club. At least 49 people were killed and more than 50 others injured in the attack. White House said, Obama will stand in solidarity with the community as they embark on their recovery.
The US President has said Orlando shooter Omar Mateen does not appear to be part of the Islamic State plot, calling it an apparent example of homegrown extremism. Obama told reporters after receiving a briefing from the FBI it appears that the shooter was inspired by various extremist information that was disseminated over the Internet.
Meanwhile, White House said terror outfits like Islamic State are perverting Islam to justify their murderous, false agenda. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters at his daily news conference what these groups are also trying to do is to claim the mantle of the religion to describe themselves as holy warriors fighting with the US.
