Calls upon social organisations to encourage public on celebrating festivals

President Ram Nath Kovind today asked social organisations to spread awareness among the public that all the festivals should be celebrated in such a way that there was no adverse impact on the environment and peace and harmony prevails.
Inaugurating the four-day Global Arya Samaj convention here today, Mr Kovind said during the festive time the problems of breathing increases in cities like Delhi due to pollution in the environment. He added that it affects the children and the elderly.

Remembering Swami Dayanand Saraswati, The President said, Swamiji was the brave warrior of social and spiritual reforms. He said, the steps he took for education, untouchability and women’s empowerment are relevant even today.
Mr Kovind said, during the nineteenth century when the society was confined with superstitions and social evils, Swami Dayanand Saraswati brought renaissance and self-pride. He said, the vision of Swamiji had a profound impact on the people. The President lauded the contributions of Arya Samaj to modern education based on morality and for the upliftment of all sections of society, especially women and deprived sections.
