This follows on the recommendation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
According to a Rashtrapati Bhawan Communique, Rural Development Minister Mr Jairam Ramesh has been given the additional charge of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Mr. Kamat was elevated as Minister of State with independent charge of Drinking Water and Sanitation Ministry in yesterday’s cabinet reshuffle. He, however, refused to take charge and said that he would like to work for the party in Maharashtra. Kamat is a five time MP from Mumbai.
