UNION Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has termed the Supreme Court order on CBI-West Bengal standoff as a moral victory for the CBI.

Reacting to the apex court ruling, Mr Prasad underlined that a fair investigation must continue into the chit fund scams.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, he questioned as to why Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar has been evading CBI for the last three years and sought to know why the political forces shielding him.

Mr Prasad said many TMC leaders were arrested for their role in the chit fund scams, but Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee never held a dharna as she has done now to protect the Police Commissioner.

He claimed that it shows that the police officer knows about many secrets of the scams.
