RAVI SHANKAR PARSAD

AMN / NEW DELHI

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has written to Congress President Rahul Gandhi over reservation of seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies.

In a letter, the Minister welcomed Mr Gandhi’s initiative to support Women’s Reservation Bill. He, however, said there cannot be double standards in dealing with women rights.

Mr Prasad stressed that the Bill should be passed along with anti-triple talaq and Nikah Halala bills. He sought the support of the Congress party for laws prohibiting triple talaq and nikah halala.

The Congress President had yesterday written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to ensure the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
