PATNA: The poll process for Assembly elections in Bihar begin with notification issued by the governor for the first phase of the six phases of elections on Monday.
The filing of nomination papers for the first phase of election has started after notification. Five candidates have field their nomination papers today for the first phase of elections .
47 constituencies spread across eight districts of the state will go to the polls in the first phase on October 21. Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar , Madhepura and Saharasa are the districts where poll would be held in first phase.
This is the first assembly election after delimitations of constituencies. The last day for filing of nominations is the October 4.
Scrutiny will be on October 5 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till October 7.
The polls for the remaining 196 seats will be held in five phases on October 24 and 28 and November 1, 9 and 20. Votes will be counted on November 24.
