Management Authority, NDMA, here Prime Minister said that the country needed to exercise the option of nuclear energy and India was complying with all safety measures as per global standards.
The meeting is believed to have recommended measures for strengthening existing mechanism to prepare to deal with any disaster. It was attended by the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahulwalia and officials of the NDMA, Atomic Energy Regulation Board, the Department of Atomic Energy and other concerned agencies. Official sources said the NDMA presented its action plan to deal with disasters radiation leaks, earthquake or a terrorist strike. The meeting also reviewed the preparedness for dealing with chemical, biological, radiological emergencies.
