Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav to discuss drought situation in the state. Mr Modi is also scheduled to meet Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Karnataka to review drought and water scarcity in the states. The Chief Ministers of the drought-hit states are meeting the Prime Minister separately.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Akhilesh Yadav meets the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to discuss drought situation, in New Delhi on May 07, 2016.

Ministers and officials of concerned Ministries are present at the meeting. Apart from taking stock of the situation, Mr Modi will also review steps taken by the states to address drought-related problems.

Addressing media after meeting, Mr. Yadav said we apprised Prime Minister of situation and put forth our concerns regarding drought and also crop damage due to hailstorm. Mr Yadav also said water is available in Bundelkhand and they have to make arrangements for distribution of water.

Prime Minister will also seek details of progress of relief work in the meeting with Chief Ministers.
