Global economic developments, international situation and development and security issues will be high on the agenda of talks in the third BRICS Summit on the 14th of his month at Sanya in China.. Briefing reporters in New Delhi today the Secretary, Economic Affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs Mr. Manbir Singh said that Dr. Singh will join leaders from China, Russia, South Africa and Brazil to intensify economic engagement amongst the grouping.

BRICS nations contribute 20 percent of the global domestic products and account for 40 percent of the population. Mr. Manbir Singh said on the sidelines of the Summit in Sanya the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the President of China, Russia, Brazil and South Africa and discuss issues of mutual concern. Responding to questions on his meeting with the Chinese President Hu Jintao, he said the agenda for the bilateral meeting is not yet known.

In the last visit of Chinese premier to India, it was decided that all efforts will be made to enhance cooperation between the two countries and New Delhi and Beijing will work towards early resolution of stapple visa issue. The revival of defence exchanges may also come up in the talks between the two leaders apart from other issues of mutual concern.

On the second leg of his visit, Dr. Singh will fly to Astana the capital of Khazakistan on 15th to have bilateral summit. Several agreements are expected to be signed after the talks. This includes an inter-governmental framework pact on civil nuclear cooperation. The two countries have already signed an agreement to this effect.
