Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Kuala Lampur on a four day visit of Malaysia and Singapore. On his first leg of visit, Mr. Modi will reach Kuala Lampur to participate in East Asia and the India- ASEAN Summits. In Singapore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have series of engagements including meeting with President and Prime Minister of Singapore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to discuss matters of international concern including terrorism and the Middle East situation among others. Mr. Modi said the ASEAN- India and East Asia Summits are being held in Malaysia at a critical juncture and together the nations will discuss the pressing security issues. The PM will address ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and will also meet Prime Ministers of China, Japan and New Zealand.
During his second leg of visit to Singapore the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet President, Prime Minister and senior minister of that country. Mr. Modi will address India- Singapore Economic Convention. He will pay homage at Indian National Army Memorial Marker. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Indian diaspora during the visit. It is hoped that this visit will boost trade and economic relations of India with ASEAN countries.
Ahead of the ASEAN-India and East-Asia summits to be held from tomorrow in Malaysia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding the crucial meeting with Chinese counterpart in Kula Lumpur. The Prime Minister is arriving at the Bunga Raya airport of Kuala Lumpur by a special flight during early hours tomorrow on a three -day state visit. A meeting between Mr Modi and his Chinese Counterpart Li Kequiang will be taking place before the ASEAN-India summit.
Secretary East in the External Affairs Ministry Anil Wadhwa informed that the two countries will discuss both economic and political issues with an aim to benefit both sides. Besides adopting a document over Maritime Security, the deliberations during ASEAN summit will also focus on newer security issues of the region such as Violent Extremism and Cyber Security.
The East Asia summit will adopt seven declarations. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit has taken the expectations very high among business community particularly among the People of Indian Origin (PIO) in Malaysia for a greater share in trade enhancement.
President of the GoPIO a business consortium, Selvaraju Sundaram said the Potential of the People of India Origin (PIO) should be utilized while the trade enhancement is being focused. Referring to China model, he said China could do well after a decade of its global market presence only after it take support from the people of Chinese origin living in various countries.
GoPIO Malaysia President Rav indran said they are expecting government encouragement in SME sector and preference to PIOs in business. Substantial excitement is also seen among the people of Indian origin in Kual Lumpur as Mr Modi along with his Malaysian counterpart will be launching a Torana Gate built at a cost of over 1.1. Million Ringgits near the Brickfields on the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur. Besides, the Prime Minister will interact with the community.
