Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the BHIM-Aadhaar service, at the main function organized by the Niti Ayog at Mankapur Indoor Stadium in Nagpur on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. BHIM Aadhar, the merchant interface of the BHIM app would pave way for making digital payments by using the Aadhaar platform.
Speaking on the occassion Prime Minister said that BHIM App is a tribute to Baba Saheb and called upon people to fulfill Baba Saheb’s dream. He said the day is not far when the poor will say that Digi Dhan is ‘Niji Dhan’.
Remembering the sacrifices made by the people of the country during Independence movement, the Prime Minister said People of India gave their lives so that India attains freedom. Our freedom is the result of the sacrifices made by great men.Prime Minister said, Dr. Ambedkar did not have a trace of bitterness or revenge in him and this was his speciality.
Mr Modi said one of the sectors towards which the government is devoting significant effort is the renewable energy sector. He said energy sector is of great vitality in the 21st century.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Modi embarked upon his day-long Nagpur visit from sacred Deekshabhoomi and paid rich tributes to the Architect of Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Central Memorial on his birth anniversary.
He also released two special commemorative postal stamps – one depicting Deekshabhoomi in its full glory and the other with twin pictures of Lord Gautam Buddha and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar later.
Mr. Modi dedicated to the nation three units of Koradi Thermal Power Plant of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company near Nagpur with a total capacity of 1,980 Mega Watts. These include three super-critical units 660 MW each.
Mr. Modi also launched the ambitious ‘Home for All by 2022’ scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana by performing ground-breaking for 21 projects coming up in state. Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for the Nagpur’s campus of Indian Institute of Management coming up at MIHAN and All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Indian Institute of Information Technology.
On the occassion of 100th and final Digidhan Mela prize-winners of Lucky Grahak and Digidhan Vyapar Yojana were awarded by the Prime Minister at the concluding ceremony. Around 75 townships were also declared less-cash places.
Maharashtra Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Ravishankar Prasad, Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal were present on the occasion.
