Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India is passing through an unprecedented phase of certainty at a time when the world is grappling with deep economic and geopolitical uncertainty. He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions in Rajkot.
The Prime Minister said India is moving rapidly towards becoming a developed nation, driven by structural reforms and long-term policy stability. Urging industry leaders to invest, he said this is the most opportune time to invest in India, particularly in the Saurashtra-Kutch region. He stressed that while infrastructure development is important, building an industry-ready workforce is the country’s biggest requirement today.
Mr Modi noted that Saurashtra and Kutch have emerged as major hubs for manufacturing, green growth and green mobility. He highlighted that the world’s largest 30-gigawatt clean energy park is under development in Kutch. Emphasising the region’s industrial transformation, he said the Morbi–Jamnagar–Rajkot industrial belt is now popularly referred to as “Mini Japan” because of its scale, skilled workforce and strong global linkages.
The Prime Minister also underlined significant investment opportunities in port-led development, fisheries and infrastructure, and reiterated that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy. He said next-generation reforms in areas such as GST, IT, insurance, labour laws and nuclear energy are strengthening investor confidence.
The conference is the second of four regional Vibrant Gujarat events aimed at decentralising industrial growth and promoting investment, innovation and employment across twelve districts of Saurashtra and Kutch. On the occasion, Mr Modi virtually launched 13 greenfield smart industrial estates across seven districts and inaugurated a specialised medical device park in Rajkot.
Leading industrialists including Mukesh Ambani, Karan Adani and BK Goenka attended the event. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani said India has never witnessed such optimism and vibrancy since Independence, crediting Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Welspun Group Chairman Balkrishan Goenka said Kutch will soon be home to the world’s largest home textile company.
The conference is focusing on key sectors such as ceramics in Morbi, engineering in Rajkot, ports and logistics, with partner countries including Japan, South Korea, Rwanda and Ukraine. Over 1,500 MoUs are expected to be signed.
Earlier in the day, Mr Modi inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Trade Exhibition in Rajkot, featuring over 400 exhibitors across sectors such as agriculture, energy, defence and logistics. In the morning, he participated in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv at Prabhas Patan, marking 1,000 years since the 1026 AD attack on the Somnath Temple, and led the Shaurya Yatra honouring warriors who defended the shrine.
