New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the “Run for Unity’ at Rajpath here on the bith anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and urged people to take inspiration from his life and work for the country’s unity and integrity.

Addressing the people gathered at Rajpath, Mr Modi said, people remember Sardar Patel as Iron Man because his contribution for unity of the nation.

The prime minister also administered a pledge to the thousands of people, which included school and college students, personnel of paramilitary forces, and people residing in and around here, gathered at the Rajpath.

Meanwhile the nation is celebrating the birth anniversary of first Deputy Prime Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered floral tributes at the Sardar Patel’s statue on Parliament Street in New Delhi.

Mr Modi said, after Chankya, it was Sardar Patel who integrated the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ at Rajpath in the national capital to mark the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Speaking on the occasion Mr Modi urged people to take inspiration from Sardar Patel’s life and work for unity and integrity of the country. He said, the Government is planning to start a campaign ‘Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat’ to recognise and learn about other state’s culture and language.

Mr Modi also administered a unity pledge to the thousands of people, which included school and college students, personnel of paramilitary forces gathered at the Rajpath.

Earlier, Prime Minister in a tweet saluted the Iron Man and the Architect of Modern India, Sardar Patel for his contribution. The celebrations are also being held in states and abroad. Union Ministers are also attending these celebrations at different places.
