Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the terror attack on a mosque in Kabul and asserted that all sanctuaries, safe havens and support to such terrorists must end for regional peace.

Expressing condolence over loss of innocent lives, the Prime Minister said in his message that India stands with Afghanistan in its fight against terrorism.

At least 32 people were killed in a suicide blast at a Shiite mosque in Kabul yesterday. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said, the explosion also injured more than 50 people, many of them children.

Afghan police said, the bomber, who was on foot, had walked into the Baqirul Olum mosque in western Kabul where he detonated explosives among the crowd of worshippers.

The mosque was targetted as worshippers gathered for a religious ceremony which comes 40 days after the major festival of Ashura. Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
