Prime Minister Narendra Modi today celebrated Diwali with Armed forces along border. He told troops that the world looks at India with respect because of their valour and character.

Prime Minister paid floral tributes to the martyrs of 1965 at the ‘ Dograi war memorial in Amritsar Cantt . This war memorial was set up in the memory of those soldiers who laid their lives in 1965 in the war of Dograi (which is a village in Pakistan). Prime Minister spent some time with the families of soldiers and greeted them on the occasion of Diwali.

Speaking on this occasion prime minister said that Indian soldiers created a glorious history by sacrificing their lives during Dograi war and established a victory during 1965 war. He said this victory gave importance (Char Chand lga die) to the history of Indian Army. Prime Minister said that Indian Army gets praise and respect all over the world because of its bravery and character. Mr. Modi said Indian army always gained importance for the country by always registering victory and he salutes the tradition of Indian army.

He said last year he celebrated Diwali at Siachin with the soldiers and this year he is visiting three places to meet the soldiers who are shielding our borders. Prime Minister also visited and paid tributes at the memorial of Paramveer Chakra Vijayta, martyr Abdul Hamid at Assal Uttar in Tarntaran district of Punjab. Abdul Hamid laid his life during 65 war by destroying many tanks of Pakistan single handedly.

Addressing the troops, he said, “I have come to celebratev Diwali with you. I am happy to get this opportunity..” Hailing the soldiers, the Prime Minister said, “It is because of your valour, dedication and dreams that the whole world looks at India with respect. It is not only because of the uniform but character of the armed forces.” He said India holds its head high in the comity of nations because the generations of leaders in the armed forces nurtured the forces. Later, he tweeted, “I spent time with our soldiers and we had a wonderful conversation.”

After returning from his visit to western borders of the country on Diwali today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it was great spending time with the troops and interacting with them. He said, the personnel’s courage and patriotism always inspires.

Mr Modi said, he visited the places where Indian troops laid down their lives while defending the Motherland and the whole nation is proud of the armed forces. He said, his visit to these places comes when the country is marking the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war. The Prime Minister saluted everyone who fought in that war. Mr Modi said, it was a very satisfying day.
