MODI INDIANIn his third visit to his home state Gujarat this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday defended his government decision on demonetisation and Goods and Service Tax and said that the economic indicators show that India is moving in the right direction.

Addressing a gathering in Dahej, Mr Modi said, "Economists agree that the fundamentals of the economy are strong and is on right track and moving in the right direction following hardcore reforms.

The Prime Minister also added that his government has taken tough decisions for the economy and will continue to do so while maintaining financial stability.

Mr Modi also promised that those who were evading paying taxes to the government will not be harrassed after their joining the mainstream economy.

In the last few months, 27 lakh additional people have registered themselves for this indirect tax.

Mr Modi said the economy is on track and is going in the right direction after hardcore decisions for economic reforms. He further added that many economists have unanimously agreed that the fundamentals of the economy are strong.

Earlier, Mr Modi inaugurated the first phase of ambitious Roll-on Roll-off ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej in Gujarat. Mr Modi said, it will connect Saurashtra and South Gujarat, saving time and fuel. With the opening of the 615-crore rupee ferry service, the distance between Saurastra and South Gujarat regions could be covered in less than an hour via sea route, which takes almost a day by road.

For the development of Marine field, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that government is planning to build Maritime University and Maritime Museum in Lothal.

The Prime Minister said, the Sagar Mala project alone will provide around one crore jobs. He said, without proper connectivity, the economic development of a nation slows down. He said, the government is focusing on port infrastructure.

PM then undertook a journey to Dahej from Ghogha on the ferry along with Divyang children.

Mr Modi also dedicated to the nation Sarvottam cattle feed plant at Ghogha in Bhavnagar district. He said, the government attaches great importance to the dairy sector. He urged people to explore opportunities in animal husbandry.[icon name=”align-justify” class=”” unprefixed_class=””]
