The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is constantly monitoring the situation arising out of the death of 60 childern at a hospital in Gorakhpur.

“PM is constantly monitoring the situation in Gorakhpur. He is in constant touch with authorities from the Central and UP Governments.

MoS Health Anupriya Patel and the Union Health Secretary will take stock of the situation from Gorakhpur”, the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today directed Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel to take stock of the situation as a priority.
“MoS Health Anupriya Patel and the Union Health Secretary (CK Mishra) will take stock of the situation from Gorakhpur”, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement.
The statement further said the Prime Minister is “constantly monitoring the situation in Gorakhpur”.

Meanwhile Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh arrived in Gorakhpur to take stock of the situation at BRD Medical College Hospital where death of 60 children have been reported since August 7.

The government has reiterated that those found guilty in the tragic death of children will face stringent action.

A committee has already been setup to probe the matter. The Health minister said the State government was not informed by the doctors and officials about shortage of oxygen either July 9 or August 9. He said that strict action will be taken keeping these points in mind and a probe is being carried out.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today issued directives to authorities to reach the spot and initiate a thorough probe, while ensuring strict action.

District Magistrate Gorakhpur has also initiated Magisterial probe into the matter. He has reiterated that no casualty has taken taken due to paucity of oxygen cylinders.

Directotor General Health Dr KK Gupta already camping at Gorakhpur with his associates. A delegation of Congress leaders under leadership of leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad has also visited the hospital and met the victims families.
