Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked opposition to work with the government to fulfil the dream of a strong, safe, developed and inclusive nation.

Replying to debate on Motion of Thanks in Lok Sabha on the President’s address, the Prime Minister said, after many years, the people of the country gave a strong mandate and re-elected the NDA government.

Speaking about the strong mandate of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, PM said that people of India have re-elected a stable government once again, after evaluating its performance.

“The 2019 Lok Sabha elections shows that the people of India are thinking about the good of the nation. This spirit is wonderful”, PM said. He added that it is satisfying to be given the opportunity to serve 130 crore Indians and do work that has made a positive difference in the lives of citizens.

He said the Lok Sabha elections have shown that the people are thinking about the betterment of the country over themselves and the spirit is commendable.

The Prime Minister rejected the allegation of not giving credit to previous governments at the Centre and different states. Mr Modi said that he was the first Prime Minister who said that all the governments have brought the country to the glory it has reached.

The Prime Minister said, he never thinks about polls in terms of victory and defeat but as an opportunity to serve 130 crore Indians. He said the NDA government is moving in the right direction, without diversion or dilution. He said, the government did not deviate from its development path and did not dilute its development agenda.

He added that it is important that the country progresses and every Indian is empowered. The Prime Minister also requested all MPs and NGOs to propagate awareness about the need to conserve water in view of the severe water crisis.

The Prime Minister said, after Independence, the country has accepted a culture in which common people had to struggle with the system for their basic rights.

In an apparent attack on Congress, Mr. Modi said the party has risen so high that it has been uprooted from the ground unlike BJP’s aim to remain closer to the people at the grassroots and strengthen them.

Mr. Modi said Bharat Ratna was not given to any Congress leader other than from one family. He said it is the NDA government which recognized the contribution of former President Pranab Mukherjee and honoured him with Bharat Ratna.

Remembering the dark period of Emergency imposed in 1975, the Prime Minister said this can never be wiped out from memory of the people.

BJP MP RK Sinha, Satish Chandra Mishra of BSP, Sanjay Singh of AAP and others also participated in the debate.

The discussion remained inconclusive. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply in Rajya Sabha to the debate on Motion of Thanks on President’s Address tomorrow.
