the Prime Minister said that the governments agreed for a JPC as the country can “ill afford” disruption of the crucial Budget session. He said that despite best effort by the government to probe the corruption, it failed to convince the opposition. The composition of the JPC would be announced on February 24.
Welcoming the prime minister’s announcement, Opposition BJP said that the parties should do their best towards smooth functioning of the parliament.
Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav also welcomed the prime minister’s decision but added that the PM should have conceded to oppositions demand much earlier so that the valuable time of Parliament would not have been wasted.
