Hyderabad Hunters defeated Pune 7 Aces in the opening match of the Premier Badminton League at Mumbai last evening. Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu-led Hyderabad, who are the defending champions, brushed aside debutants Pune 7 Aces with victories in all the five games.
In the Women’s Singles, Sindhu came back from a game behind to beat Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin of Spain, 8-15, 15-8, 15-13.
In the Men’s Singles, Dutch Mark Caljouw defeated Lakshya Sen, while South Korean Lee Hyun-il got the better of Frenchman Brice Leverdez.
In the Men’s Doubles, the pair of Kim Sa Rang and Bodin Issara outplayed Chirag Shetty and Mathias Boe, while in the Mixed Doubles, the duo of Kim Sa Rang and Eom Hye Won defeated Vladimir Ivanov and Line Kjaersfeldt.
Today, Mumbai Rockets will take on Delhi Dashers at 4 PM, with Ahmedabad Smash Masters facing North Eastern Warriors at 7 in the evening.
