Prime Minister Narendra Modi; Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan; Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Dr. M. Thambi Durai; Several Union Ministers and former Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Ethics Committee (Lok Sabha) L. K. Advani, today paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his Birth Anniversary, today.
Secretaries General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Smt. Snehlata Shrivastava and Sh. Desh Deepak Verma respectivily also paid floral tributes.
A booklet containing the profile of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, brought out by the Lok Sabha Secretariat in Hindi and English, was presented to the dignitaries who attended the function.
The portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was unveiled by the then President of India, R. Venkataraman, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 31 May 1991, in recognition of his outstanding services to the nation.
