Congress-led opposition forced repeated adjournments of both the Houses of Parliament for the second day today on different issues.
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha could not transact any legislative business as the opposition members trooped into the well raising slogans against the government as soon as they met for the day.
Members belonging to Congress, TMC, TRS, TDP, AIADMK, DMK and TRS trooped into the well raising slogans in support of their demands.
Congress and TMC members raised the issue of bank fraud cases asking the government to get the diamond merchant Nirav Modi arrested.
AIADMK and DMK members from Tamil Nadu wanted the setting up of the Cauvery Management Board while TDP demanded the special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
The Rajya Sabha witnessed three adjournments before adjourning finally for the day while the Lok Sabha was adjourned in the pre-lunch period amidst opposition ruckus. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar appealed to the opposition to allow the Lok Sabha to function to transact the legislative business but in vain.
He said the government is ready to discuss any issue. However, this had no effect on the agitating members who continued to raise the slogans despite a discussion on alleged irregularities in the banking sector over the years and its impact on the Indian economy, was listed in today’s business.
In the Upper House, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel also made similar appeals but of no use.
