Both the Houses of Parliament adjourned to meet on 5th of March for second phase of the Budget Session after nearly a month-long recess. The second phase will continue till 6th of April.
According to a release issued by Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, the first part of the Session which began on 29th of January yielded a total of 7 sittings of Lok Sabha and 8 sittings of the Rajya Sabha.
The productivity of Lok Sabha was 134 percent and Rajya Sabha 96 percent in terms of utilization of time.
Lok Sabha sat late on 3 days and Rajya Sabha on 5 days during the session to conduct important business. The budget session started with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind to the joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament.
The Motion of Thanks on the President Address in the Rajya Sabha was moved by Amit Shah of BJP and seconded by Dr. Vinay P. Sahasrabuddhe.
In the Lok Sabha it was moved by Rakesh Singh of BJP and seconded by Prahlad Venkatesh Joshi. It was discussed and adopted by the two Houses. During the Session, the Union Budget was presented and general discussion on the Budget was held in both the Houses.
