Palestinian leaders in Gaza on Monday agreed to a ceasefire with Israel to end a two-day escalation in violence. An official from Hamas said, Egypt brokered the agreement to cease hostilities. Israel also lifted restrictions on civilian movements in communities around the Gaza border.
The escalation began on Saturday with rocket fire from Gaza, drawing waves of Israeli retaliatory strikes. Four Israelis and 25 Palestinians, including at least nine militants, were killed.
