security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully foiled a plot to target Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. Addressing a press conference here, Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon said that they have recovered an M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope from a terror cache along the route of annual Amarnath yatra.
Lt General Dhillon said that a landmine with Pak ordnance factory markings has also been recovered from one of the caches of terrorists in Kashmir suggesting that Pakistan is desperate to disrupt peace in Kashmir.
“The threat of improvised explosive devices is more pronounced in the Kashmir Valley,” noted Lt General Dhillon, adding: “Type of IEDs we are examining and the IED expert terrorists we are capturing and eliminating point to the fact that Pakistan is trying to disrupt peace in Kashmir.”
He, however, assured the awaam of Kashmir that no one will be permitted to disrupt peace.
He added that 83 per cent of terrorists have a history of stone-pelting. The situation on the Line of Control is under control, said Lt Gen Dhillon, adding that the forces have been successful in foiling infiltration bids from Pakistan side.
