India today said Pakistan has no locus standi on internal matters of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral part of India. Responding to Pakistan Foreign Office comments on the recent firing in Handwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said India do not need lectures from a country like Pakistan, which is the epicenter of global terrorism and where religious minorities are routinely persecuted. He said India’s robust and vibrant democracy has enough redressal mechanism to handle such cases.
On Pakistan Punjab province Minister Rana Sanaullah’s comments about Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Mr Swarup said if the Minister has said so, it corroborates what India has always held about the support and freedom available to anti India terror groups in the neighbouring country.
Rana Sanaullah had said Pakistan cannot take legal action against militant groups like Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Jaish-e-Mohammad as the state itself remained involved with them. Mr Swarup said Rana’s remarks also explain the reason for lack of effective action even against those groups and individuals against whom Pakistan has international obligation to act.
The spokesperson said, it is upto Pakistan authorities to address it in the interest of normal relationship between India and Pakistan and in broader interest of itself.
