Well known Pakistani Philintherpist, humanitarian and the Chairman Edhi Foundation Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away in karachi Friday night. He was 92 .

The philanthropist’s son announced that Edhi’s funeral prayers will be offered on Saturday after Zuhr prayers at Memon Masjid, after which he will be laid to rest at Edhi village.

“He wished to be buried in the same clothes he used to wear. He also wanted to donate his body parts, but only his cornea can be donated as rest of the organs were not in healthy condition,” said Faisal Edhi.

Edhi was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2013 but had been unable to get a transplant due to frail health. He was receiving treatment at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation.

It was Edhi foundation that look after India Deaf and dumb girl Geeta. She was adopted by the Edhi Foundation’s Bilquees Edhi and lived with her in Karachi.

Geeta was reportedly just 7 or 8 years old when she was found sitting alone on the Samjhauta Express by the Pakistan Rangers 15 years ago at the Lahore railway station.

Foundation had turned down Rs one crore donation announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking care of Indian girl Geeta during her over a decade-long stay in the country.

The Edhi Foundation provides 24-hour emergency assistance across the nation of Pakistan and abroad. The Foundation provides, among many other services, shelter for the destitute, free hospitals and medical care, drug rehabilitation services, and national and international relief efforts. Its main focuses are Emergency Services, Orphans, Handicapped Persons, Shelters, Education, Healthcare, International Community Centers, Blood & Drug Bank, air ambulance services, Marine And Coastal Services.
