army 2Pakistani forces today resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on five border outposts and some villages in R.S. Pura Tehsil of Jammu district leaving four persons injured. According to police sources, Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing and mortar shelling along International Border in R S Pura sector around 1 am in the wee hours today which was effectively retaliated by BSF.

Five border outposts and some civilian areas have been affected by the firing. The exchange of fire continued around 6 am and four persons in Brewa village were injured.

Army has also foiled an infiltration bid from across the Line of Control in Poonch sector in the wee hours today. The forces from across the Line of Control also resorted to firing on some forward posts in Poonch sector around 1 am today which was retaliated by Army.

Yesterday also Pakistani forces resorted to shelling and firing in Akhnoor sector which left woman and five others injured. The latest round of firing comes ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s scheduled visit Jammu tomorrow to attend the centenary celebrations of veteran Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra.

India lodges protest with Pakistan over ceasefire violation

India has lodged a protest with Pakistan over the ceasefire violation in Akhnoor sector in Jammu yesterday in which one woman was killed. According to government sources, India lodged the protest both in Islamabad as well as in New Delhi. Reports say, India’s High Commissioner in Islamabad raised the issue with the Pakistan Foreign Office and Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Delhi was also conveyed India’s concerns regarding ceasefire violation in which one woman was killed and some people injured.

Pakistan Rangers violated the ceasefire twice yesterday, indulging in firing and mortar shelling in the Akhnoor sector. They targeted civilian areas with small-arms fire and shelling at Bhalwal Bharth, Malabela and Siderwan. A 42-year-old woman lost her life in the firing.
