The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Pakistan, has alleged that the country’s army and paramilitary forces are committing atrocities against the Mujahir community in Karachi.

In a memorandum submitted to the Special US Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Olson today, it said, over 20,000 MQM workers and supporters have been murdered by the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies since the formation of the party in 1984.

These facts have also been confirmed in the latest human rights report of the US State Department, it said. It alleged that high ranking officers of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI are threatening MQM lawmakers to either join an ISI-sponsored political party, or face devastating consequences.

It said, Pakistani military’s main priority is to pave the way for a right-wing or right-leaning military-sponsored setup in Pakistan, particularly in MQM-dominated cities of urban Sind province.
