Pakistani military officers were involved in January 3 attack on Indian Consulate at Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan. This was disclosed by Police chief of Balkh province, Sayed Kamal Sadat yesterday. Mr Sadat said, those attackers were from Pakistani military and used special tactics while conducting their operation. Tolo News quoted Mr Sadat as saying that the attackers were not able to speak Dari or Pashtu and they were communicating in Urdu.

The standoff ended on the night of January 4 after the attackers who entered the building opposite the Indian Consulate were killed. One Afghan solider also lost his life and nine others including three civilians were wounded in the incident.

A strong contingent of over four-dozen ITBP commandos has been securing the consulate from 2008 apart from three other missions in Afganistan and the main Embassy in Kabul.
